Hooking up Comnav to Nobeltec (also radar overlay)

Post by nashfam »

Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker but haven't posted much. I really appreciate all the info!

My wife and I are buying a new boat down in Astoria Oregon to bring back up to SE and I'm trying to get my navigation system all up and running. I have Nobeltec Catch and I'm working on hooking all my different systems into it. I just purchased a Furuno DRS4D-CM 24" 4kw radome to set up radar overlay but in order to do so I need heading data. My Comnav 1001 has a fluxgate compass and I'm quite sure there is a way to share that data with Nobeltec but I can't find it! I would think there is a NMEA port for output. Can anyone help?

Also I'd love to hear anyone's experience with the Furuno DRS4D Radar. The one I'm getting is the same as the one for the Navnet system but it is specifically made to talk directly to Nobeltec without a Multifunction Display.

Thanks!

Have you tried calling Nobeltec tech support? They are awesome and very helpful. I believe Nobeltec is affiliated with Furuno somehow, and those guys know lots about other brands as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they could help you solve this. Good luck!
