Site Updated

Post by Jon »

I just upgraded the software running the board (PHPBB) with a new version.

The board now has a "Quick Reply" option a the bottom of each thread.

There is also new spam fighting measure that might cut down on the spam we've been getting. Plus, no more crazy-hard image CAPTCHAs when signing up :)

P.S. Thanks for all the spam reporting - it's been a big help.

Donations,
Just donated and tips for donations still alive.
My tip to myself today is the neat vacuum gauge device on the screw in handle of your racor fuel filter. Saves the high vacuum so you can see it when you check your oil etc. even when the engine is off. Heard about it this morning and bought it at Murray Pacific this afternoon. Talked to another fisherman about it and he said it saved him from having to change his racor filter at every oil change, like I do. Plus at a glance he could tell if there was a problem and he needed to change it because of fouling.
Thanks Jon.

I bought one of those and cannot get it to stop leaking no matter how hard I crank it down. I'm done for a few months but am going to return it when I fire up in February. Great concept. Maybe I got a lemon.

Eric: Thank you for the donation, and especially all the tips. I used to run a fuel hose from a T junction installed between my racors and the engine, to a vacuum gauge in the pilot house. I could always see at a glance the condition of the filter currently in use.

Joe: Did you try teflon tape on the threads? That seemed to work for me on brass fuel fittings.

I seem to remember this apparatus having some kind of advantage over a vacuum gauge but can't recall what it was.

I could probably try changing the O ring gasket on it. Maybe I got a bad one.
