Does anyone know where I could find a caulking mallet for a reasonable price? The only place that I have found in the U.S. that sells them new is in Port Townsend, and they want $300 each. I would feel like an idiot paying that much, so I hope that someone has an old one that they'd like to sell.

I bought two used old ones on ebay. the problem there is that the wood dried up and the rings and shaft were loose. Then I bough several irons on ebay as well. I also ordered some new irons from Jamestown: http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/search.do?freeText=iron&page=GRID&history=

Some links on (expensive) mallets (the first link is only $150):

After I bought the mallets I saw a video on youtube of a guy showing how he was recaulking a wooden boat, but he was using a rubber mallet and mentioned it was just as good, so I dont know, you might want to search for the video or read more about it.

They are all sitting on my garage, I havent used them. I think I'll use them in the deck first to practice and later progress to the above water planks :)
