Hi Gumpucky
I am returning to Ketchikan tommorrow and I had my gurdies rebuilt at Union Machine, I had one grecian valve and one valve I bought at Murrays in K town last yr, I switched to canadain valves and told Jimmy at Union Machine to hold onto the valves. Personally I liked the new valve from Murray's however it took different fittings of coarse and had this whimpy long handle however it didn't seize up like the old ones. So I will see if he did save them and if you want to buy my old valve we can arrange that.

Those are called grecian valves???I've never used em before, always used the round canadians with the wimpy handles. These gurdie motors are the two hole mount with these valves.Thought i'd try em before i had to completly replace the motors and valves to the four hole eaton.I'll be catching the boat on the 2nd and stopping in Ketch on the way up.Maybe we can do business.
thats a gressen spw4hpss rotary valve. gressen was recently bought out by parker(aka racor, aka hydraulic's) and as a result those valves doubled in $$$. while still very popular and familiar the cost is silly. the valve to explore is called a "brand" rotary valve. they will cost about half the $$$ of a gressen. they require sae (o-ring seal) fittings... i think 5/8". that is the type i think the carol w is talking about.

Thanks Dan,
I'm finding out more and more from some of the industry vets that the gressen might not be the way to go.Tried punching up brand valves but don't know how to navigate all the technical jargon to know which one I need to research.Any thoughts on which valve I need to read up on for my application? Will also consult Pat down at M.P.and try to compile some kind of data base to work from concerning this.
the particular "brand" rotary valve you apper to be interested in is a mfg#BRDTS1120TEHB w/load check. this is the closest replacement to the gressen rotary valve.

Call Loren at Smith Bros. Foundry and Machine---Victoria , BC (877) -900-5656
They have the round Canadian valves that fit on the gurdy motors---about $100 less than Murray Pacific--also, thay make Simplex gurdies there and have lots of parts--
