I would like to get ahold of a corking mallet. Anybody that has one they want to get rid of or knows if anybody still makes them, please reply here. Thanks.

Kickdrum, Thanks for the heads up, at that price I decided to get one to see what the quality is. I'll update when I get the mallet to let you know how it works out. Thanks again for the help,

I got one too, figured, "what can I loose"? Haven't had cause to use it yet, and I'm so
newbie probably wouldn't be able to tell by using it. Seems ok to me. How did yours
come to you? Maybe buy them all up and re-sell? The only other choices I found
searching were the above and others of WAY pricey cost. Although they were
bronze/brass and the one we got is steel. I'm sure I can deal with "rust prevention"
in exchange for the savings. Let me know what you think of yours.
Thanks,
MSW

JUst got it the other day, The first thing that I noticed is that the rings reinforcing around the cutouts in the body of mallet are extremely loose. Probably needs to be soaked in some water. My rings are steel too, I don't think that the vintage of the mallet is as old as the seller said that it was, looks to me like modern tooling marks on the cuts in the mallet. It should work perfectly fine though. It would be interesting to do a couple of days of corking with the mallet, and then borrow an expensive one for a day or two and see if there is a difference. That would probably be the best test. Thanks again for the heads up, I'm perfectly happy with the mallet and plan on using it on my boat after I refasten this fall. Hope your season is going well.
