Is it the converted sail boat at Fisherman's terminal in Seattle? I called that number 50 times.

Once I got a guy who said the guy who owned the boat was up in Alaska, didn't live at that

number, the guy at that number was just a friend. Said he would pass the message along.

I got no response despite making it CLEAR that I wanted to buy the boat. Ended up getting

a different boat. Good luck on getting anywhere with that. Maybe bug them in the

office to get some contact info, doubtful they will give it out. There has been no

movement on that thing except me and you climbing on it to get the number in over

a year. If they've paid the moorage on it for two years, they've paid what its worth.

Best of luck. I live blocks away and find my way through the terminal almost daily.

marshall, yeah, it looks like a convert with the mast where it's at. nice high bow. i asked at the office and they said that is the only # they had for him. what ya think it's worth? just lookin at it and the work that needs to be done, don't know if it runs are not and since it's been sittin there for so long maybe somewhere under $5000. i think it would be a great project and a nice cruiser for two to run up to alaska and back. let me know what ya think. be glad to meet you there any time. thanks

question for all of you. since most of you have been around boats more then i have, as you live boats all the time, do you think white cloud would be a good boat? at speed do you think the ass end would dig down and have problems? also, because it used to be a ketch and looks to have about an 8' draft and now supports a steel house do you think it would be too top heavy? a lot of ?'s i know but you guys are better at this then i am. would anyone of you if you were looking for a boat buy this boat if a survey was good?

thanks

Dockstreet says that the boat has an aluminum house, so you don't have to worry about steel, the aluminum probably weighs a whole lot less than the weight of the original house. I was down there a while back on a boat shopping trip and I saw it at the terminal, I don't know much about wood boats except that if you think that there's work to do, there's probably quite a bit more than you expected to make it 100%, and that one looked like it needed some work. I was considering this boat a while back, but I think that my sights are set on something closer to fishing condition, but it would be neat to hear what happens with it.

not sure yet what condition it's in. i won't be fishing it, just convert to cruising. will see once i get inside to look.

I fished out of La Push Wa. back in the late 70's, the White Cloud fished there also, part of the old hippie fleet. Donavan D. owned it at the time. What I remember about her was that back in it hay days it was a world class sailing vessel. It used to have on board great photos and documents of it's accomplishments which were many. She looked beautiful while fishing on the sea. There is a great photo of her in the book, Alaska Blues, (pg. 62) stern shot, with the original wheel house. The only other comments that circulated on the docks back then was that it did not fish well. That could have changed by now. I always loved her myself and would have bought her if I could have afforded to. Who ever buys it will own a piece of history, treat her well, Hopeless Chuck.

I remember the White Cloud fishing off Washington State in the late 70 iesw - I forget the owner but if you can find Darby Dickerson or Donovan Duncan or the guy on the Helen Mccall( now in newport) they will fill you in on her history Good luck - when I get to Seattle I'll see if I can get better info for you but go via internet to find these guys Ray
