HELP! ME! PLEASE!
I bought an old 37' troller out of BC Canada and was on my way down to Oregon. When I got just off of Point Roberts my Capitol gear went out. They say its gone. It would almost cost as much as a new one to rebuild and alot of time. I am looking for a good used one or a remanufactured one to try to get this boat going. I have been Standed in Blaine Harbor WA. almost a month now. I dont care what brand as long as its in good shape and will work with my boat and motor. I had a Capitol HE10700 with a 3-1 reduction powered by a 6cly model 33 Chrysler Nissan with approx. 120 hp Im turning a 32" propeller dont know the pitch. I have NW Diesel Power out of Bellingham WA. doing the repairs. They are having a tuff time finding me a replacement short of a new one. PLEASE! any one have any ideas or know of a reduction gear sitting in someones shop that would work? The Boats Name is the Two Sisters my name is Greg Stackhouse and any help would be GREATLY APPRICIATED!!!

Greg,
I just did a search on Seattle's craigslist and found the ad below. Don't know if this Paragon 3:1 will work for you since there's no model number. To get more information just email the guy at the craigslist address (sale-758245608@craigslist.org).

Rebuilt 3:1 Paragon. I had it rebuilt for a project, and then the project got canceled. It's got 0 hours on a 100% rebuild. Anyway, a result I have no use for this gearbox. If you're in need of one please let me know. Thanks.

Hey George, that reduction gear wouldnt work for us, but finally found a Herth that will. Thanks again for your help. I see you are in Tacoma. I use to fish on a 38' Double Ender from Tacoma called the JULY from 1979 to 1981 out of La Push Wa. The owner then was close to 80 years old his name was Delbert Ray he lived in Tacoma too. You wouldn't have seen this boat before by chance, or know if its still around? It was a great boat and it drew almost 8ft of water, 3 more feet than mine does which made it a great sea boat. Would love to see it again and seeing it still being took care of like Del Did, would be awesome. It was about 15 years older than the Two Sisters which was built in 1949, So it would of taken alot of work to keep it a good boat all this time. Its a long shot, but since you said you like Double Enders and you are in Tacoma, I thought I would Ask.

Greg,
Glad to hear you found one that fits. Haven't heard of the July, but now I'll have to keep and eye out for her. Good lucky on your trip down to Oregon.

Hi,
I saw your post yesterday and thought I should check with a friend who was both a diesel mechanic and then a troller....and now a mechanic again. He can fix anything (and has parts for lots of things!) and lives in Port Moody, a suburb of Vancouver, so is probably an hour away from Blaine. His reply is:
Hi!
I have Capitol 10-700 2.5:1 rebuilt gear for sale. Arne
If things don't work out for you you might want to contact Arne...his e-mail is afrostad@shaw.ca His phone number is 604 939-9521
Good luck

I am thinking it will likely work out for you.....Arne could probably install it if you wish as well...if he has the time....but I leave that up to you two. Keep me informed as to how this works out.
Are you going to utilize the Two Sisters as a troller?

Yes, I am trying to get it out on the Tuna grounds. I hope to be out there by this next weekend I also have a unlimited Oregon Salmon troll permit, but we all know how thats going right now :( LOL! I also have Plans of longlining with her too. Maybe for Pacific Cod up in S.E. Alaska next year as long as they dont close entry before then. But right now Im concentrating on Tuna. We are suppose to get a small Salmon season North of Cape Falcon to the Columbia river Sept to November like 9000 chinook at a rate of 25 a week per boat. We'll see how that goes. Plans are as such. Leave Blaine 22nd for Port Angeles and Pick up deck hand . Leave P.A. on the 23rd for Neah Bay take on Ice. Leave NB the 24th Thursday other wise I cant leave NB until
the 26th Saturday (Cant start a trip on a Friday) I all ready have had enough bad luck  LOL!
Turn south around Cape Flattery on a southwest heading until I hit Tuna water throw out the jigs and troll south for home (Newport, Oregon). with maybe a couple big circles now and again ;) All this contengent on repairs and Mother Nature, but those are my hopes and Plans
GOD Willing Of Coarse :)
