I just rebuilt a Johnson FB7 pump with new bearings , seals, speedy sleeve and impeller. The impeller I put in has a typical spline machined into the impeller for 3/4 of the way through it. The last 1/4 of the spline has what looks to be serrations. Which side goes towards the cover plate? I put the serrations towards the cover but I am just guessing. The original impeller had a straight spline with no serration on it. Also this pump did not have the typical rubber button over the end of the shaft, almost all of the jabsco pumps I have serviced have had buttons. Should I try to source a button for this pump?
