I live in Morro Bay, CA. and I have a mooring in Avila aka.Port San Luis. Taught for 33 years and commercial fished weekends and vacation. I am a junk fisherman but will use bait when the situation calls for it. Good Luck to all...John

Welcome John. I've seen those Farallon's set up for trolling. They look like they'd make great day trolling boats up here in AK too!

Sounds like you guys are having a king salmon boom down there in Cali. What's next year looking like?

Welcome.

Pretty nice weather down there in Morro bay. Do you fish around there, or do you head further up the coast?

My wife of 40 years this July retired in 2012, using her early retirement stipend bought the Farallon for us. It is an awsome vessel. I fish right down the street from my house in Morro Bay and Avila is my home Port. Moss Landing, and Bodega Bay are my next frequented ports. We have a great fishery. In my 30s I was one of the pioneers along with Henry Terry to introduce salmon pens in Avila for many years. DFG ended our program but it is alive in Half Moon Bay. I am very proud of this because when we started everyone said it wouldn't work. Good Luck to all, John

Berrys' son Mike along with his wife run Olde Port Fish. Mike also has a commercial salmon boat he fishes quite well out of the Port. Berry fought for years to keep the pier from being wrecked and he won. He is still around and his effort to make the pier a historical working landmark are greatly appreciated. Good Luck John

Salmon Fry can be bought and delivered just like trout. Strong holding pens are constructed and placed in the bay and the fry are set free when they are large enough to fend for them selves. Fresh water is hosed into the pens from the dock to dilute the sea water before they are introduced. 24hr attention is needed at this point. Feeding and tending to their safety begins. They will return to the exact spot when they return. Fish and Game said their return up San Luis Creek endangered the Steal head so that ended that. Good Luck John
