Saw this on the for sale add of F/V Saturday:

Tell me more about these types of systems, who makes them, who stocks them, how do they hold up. Costs, value.

Custom made by Malcolm Russel.

When I hired him to go through the Saturday's electrical system (bonding, zincs, electrical)

He answered the following questions:

How much does it cost to install one of these systems with power anodes? $14,000.00

Why would someone pay that much?

Makes a 43' wood boat fish like a 50' steel boat.

How do you know it is working? When you are on the fish they follow the boat, jump towards the boat, and load lines top to bottom.

My system ( and the one on my partners boat) has been maintenance free. Other bonding system connections ( and gurdie mounts) should be cleaned yearly to remove salt corrosion and improve the connection between metals.

Oh yeah, the system on the Saturday has a button that puts 12volts dc into the bonding system to freshen the zincs daily (15 seconds) The boat comes with a manual for the power anode system that explains the theory behind line voltage, hull voltage, differential voltage, how to monitor adjust and correct problems and a chart that shows salmon species, size, and where to set Voltages.

Fun eh?

I'll try to post some pictures later on. Anyone know how to post pics from an iPhone?

I don't have the power anode, $14,000 dollar system, so I don't catch like the Saturday. I have no doubt consulting with Malcolm Russell will help you understand trolling better.

Malcolm called me and freely gave me lots of good advice. I have a bit of work to do to document the base line for my boat. He is one very helpful and friendly person.

Is documenting your baseline just recording your line voltage and depth every day over a season?

Recording the voltages is all I meant, doing it while turning on each piece of electrical gear. The only thing I have left to do is attach the leads with a shackle and put the lines over one at a time to get that voltage.
