Didn't want to bury Salty's latest post about Nobletech Catch, but I learned something relevant today. If anyone was thinking about avoiding Nobletech problems by splurging on Olex navigation, be aware it ONLY CHARTS THE OCEAN IN METERS!
I asked the question because I downloaded the user manual, and never saw anything but meters referred to. How would you like to spend many thousands of dollars, give up trying to find where to set to fathoms, call up tech support, and be told: "Oh, it doesn't do that."
The guy explained you just learn to half all the soundings mentally to achieve fathoms. I replied, no that is not an exact conversion, and when you get deeper, you are going to have problems. He said: "Yeah, that's right."

Correction: After further review, the same technician now tells me Olex does chart in fathoms. More diligence is required before anyone makes a purchase.
And Salty, there is a big difference between a graveyard and an archive. For one thing, people forget about what's in a graveyard, eventually. :)
