Once and Future

I read in the April National Fisherman that ASMI has a new "director". I just checked their website, and they mean "Executive Director", as in the "Head Dude". And the reason I am writing is that he has impressive credentials - for some other profession. He spent 31 years in the Coast Guard, and served on 5 different cutters.
I have no ax to grind. I never heard of the guy. But when you want to "market" something, you hire someone with "marketing" credentials. This is unjustifiable. He probably is a great guy. That has nothing to do with it.
I will hush now and give someone the opportunity to point out where I am wrong before I go off the deep end.

I've been trying to find justification for it and read about his credentials. Their site says he retired from the CG in 2011, giving him the last couple of years in the private sector to work on a tuna project with the UN. It does seem strange in our economy that he would be the top choice. Hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised.
