Jon a "smiley" is a large king salmon that makes you look like :D every time you catch one. I dont know if there is a actual size min, But I figure it's about 30lb and over. Could be wrong. :D

Are you ready for "THE CORNER"???? :shock:This is always more fun when your singlehanding with a bunch of fish on deck to clean and your autopilot is on the blink.

Hi Gumpucky,,,,you forgot one of the other big frownies in the buisness and that is Cape Chirikoff 's bull lion sliding off the rocks during the morning bite,,,,,grrrrrrrrrrrrrr,,,or sleeping late behind the Island and as you pull the anchor Sitka's wonderfully friendly charter fleet buzzing by, as you idle out you know you won't get your pass at the mushroom, these frownies cause a guy to wonder why you fish.
Lets not just dwell on the negative remember those peaceful evenings looking out the back door as the sunsets into the ocean, or trolling off Addington as the sun rises over the mountains of Baker Island, oh yeah and the best smiley is when you accidently stumble into a King Salmon bite, not another boat in sight and pull kings until it isn't fun anymore but rather work,,,now that is a smiley.
Even though it is still winter outside the sun is earlier each day and I haven't fished in almost 4 months the bug is definately nibbling at me and I am starting to seriously look forward to the first trip. I know I won't catch much, for I won't be on the line in Sitka, I won't see many boats if any.
