So getting started this year. Lots to get ready. Looking for advice on favorite leader for kings.
I used the 120 yama last year. I might try that 100# one that they sell on the big spools (is it called something max?). I know people that had good results with that and it's a lot cheaper.

I use 60-100 lb test either in Izor or Yo-Zuri hybrids. I have gone to different colors for the different lb. tests. I double crimp all king leaders that I do not tie. P line is also popular with some of the SE trollers. Many of us used to use Ultra Green Maxima.
Most of the producers I know have moved to line cheaper, stronger, less stretchy, and more durable than Yama or JinKai.
Having said all that, I have heard the merits of different lines debated endlessly among trollers. Everyone has their favorites, mostly from what I can tell, based on the last bite they got. For years I used 60 lb. Hi-catch exclusively on my 5 inch tomic plugs.
One of the top producers I know uses only 120 lb leader on everything. When he is done king fishing he just cuts the leaders in half for coho spoons.
Others, like me, are mostly confused and have a different leader for their flashers, their spoons, their plugs, and herring.
Then there is the trend toward Oregon leader for coho and chums.
Then there is the decision on line color, clear, smoke, ultra-green, chameleon, red tint, flourescent yellow for visibility, etc.
Then there is the huge stock sitting in my garage of monofilament brands I used to use and bought a lifetime supply of. Interested?

Superstar. From pacificnetandtwine.com I've been using it for the last couple of seasons. I'll call it exactly the same stuff as yamaline. What is different is, 15 bucks cheaper, and thats for a 500 yard spool. Yama comes on 300 yard spool.
