I still like the logo idea where we come up with something to identify troll-caught fish in the marketplace. There's been a lot of good discussion with different helpful ideas. But since we're not really an organization there is a good chance that nothing gets done.

I have some logo visions in my head. Unfortunately, my hand can't translate that vision into a picture. In the next few weeks I will find someone who can do that for me. Once I have some images I like, I will contact most of you somehow to see if there is any support for pursuing what I have. It won't be very expensive to go that far.

I mentioned before separate initiatives might be a good idea. Let me explain that further. We are not voting anything down here. If someone else has a different avenue they would like to pursue, they can spearhead their own effort and see if they can get something going there. The idea about getting opening dates changed to when it would be more beneficial market-wise is excellent. But I don't know how to start that ball rolling. If someone else likes that project, go for it. Maybe you will succeed and I won't. But we both tried something constructive. I think that is a lot better than shooting down people's ideas.

If anybody would like to private message me about my project that would be fine. I will tolerate more constructive criticism from those who have a symbol by their screen name showing that they have donated a little something to this great site.

Woof. Lot's of bad news lately. So I wanted to offer distraction by informing you that my logo project is coming to fruition. I have settled on two that are a day or two away from being sharable (after a couple last second tweaks).

It may be that my logo suggestion will be superseded by the "This Fish" program. And that's fine. But I wanted to keep my word by producing a couple logos for your consideration. I may post one tonite if I can figure out how, even though it's not quite final. I'm not sure if I can attach it here or if it will have to go over in "Pictures".

OK, here are the final examples of the work to this point with the graphic artist. To address one question as to why no trolling polls, I am thinking this would be a logo on a package of fish less than an inch across. Therefore the picture has to be simple. And, in my opinion, it must communicate with symbolism rather than details. Poles could be included, but then the overall image of the boat has to be smaller to include them. Also, then you might need a mast to justify the poles, and suddenly the picture looks more like a bunch of sticks which don't mean much to the unfamiliar customer we are trying to impress. (I'm beating a dead horse a bit, but I'm trying to validate the general idea of using symbols in marketing.)
