I am assessing the interest in siting a buying station in Angoon from May 1st (Spring troll fishery) through October. Would anyone benefit from it or use it?

Gordy Williams and Mary McDowell ran a fish buying station in Angoon for many years. Gordy works in the Commissioners office of ADF&G. I think he is at treaty this week but I am sure he would give you a good idea of the challenges there.

There are seven trollers out of Tenakee I'm sure we would all use the site at some point. I think it's a great idea!
I packed a lot of salmon out of Angoon (and Tenakee) back in the last half of the 70s for Juneau Cold Storage. Some of you may remember the HYDAH? If you have a reasonable amount of Coho passing through for the locals to work on, a suitable (covered) buying station that can handle sufficient totes of flake ice to support a quality product, a congenial and mechanically-inclined person operating the station, and an ex-vessel price structure that is competitive with other remote stations - I believe Angoon can once again be a viable buying site. A lot will depend upon the reliability of the tender service. If I am trolling in that area I would appreciate having a buyer in Angoon.
