Wondering if anyone on here is familiar with these hulls? I see them periodically in Canada but don't think I have ever seen one up here. Any info will be most appreciated.

I had asked about these awhile ago and got a few replies. They were positive, but the boats are a little spend. Also the Canadian exchange rate and the penalty that the bank charges (3% last I heard) needs to be factored into the price.

If you a referring to the Jabberwock in Canada, I talked to the owner a couple weeks ago and she said she would sell it for 170K. For a boat of that calibur (47' fiberglass freezer boat) I would think that is a very fair price. All of the others (47'+) that I have ever seen listed are in the 200-300+ range. I asked a friend in Canada about them and he had nothing negative to say. From the pictures I've seen they look nice and deep with a kind shape to the bottom and stern.
You'd have to live with that ugly"cyclops" window though
:)

I bought a canadian boat a few years ago, and brought it into the US. I don't recall paying a 3% fee to any banks. Which bank is charging 3%, and for what service?
Current exchange rate is $1.00 CAD == $1.01 USD.

Jon: I believe he is referring to a hidden fee banks charge when they exchange your money. They skim between 1% and 5% on the transaction. You can confirm this by going to - let's see, I believe it was the Bank of Canada site. The have a calculator where you can plug in how much US money you will be converting, and they will tell you how much Canadian they will give (and vice versa). And surprise surprise, they are not mirror image numbers. I seem to recall making a detailed post years ago wherein I shared what I learned.

Yep, I just confirmed it. Go to the Bank of Canada website. Click on the English words to get on the English web page. At the bottom under "Rates and Statistics", you will see "Currency Converter". Click it.
Now, if you punch in your numbers as is, you will see the rates Jon mentions. BUT, if you click the box marked "cash rate", they will tell you what they will give you dollar for dollar. And this reveals their skim.
If I type in I want to exchange $100,000 US dollars, they promise to pay me $94,656 Canadian. (That doesn't seem right, does it?) But let's see, if there is no skim, I should be able to hand them back my $94,656 Canadian and get my $100,000 US back, yes? But no! If I punch in I now want to convert $94,656 Canadian, they reveal they will only give me back $92,160 US!!!!
So I just handed my money to a banker twice, and he handed it back twice, and 7.8% of it disappeared!!!
It varies by bank. But they do appreciate your business. :) :(
