Don't know your symptoms but I have a john deere. More than once I had to replace the "relay" on back the engine to fix the starting problem.
Just a FYI in case you haven't checked that.

Carojae, would you tell a little about the "Relay" you had to change I recently purchased a boat with a 6068T and would like to try and keep as many parts on hand as possible. Sure would be appreciated!

Anyone that has a 6068T John Deere needs to be aware of a 10 amp fuse located right by the starter connected to the wiring pigtails. Last summer I was running in and for no reason that I've been able to trace, my engine just suddenly died! Luckily I was just entering the anchorage so I coasted in and dropped my anchor. The next day I was shown the fuse by a friend of mine. It is the same blade type fuse used in cars. I now have a couple of packs of these fuses hanging on a string right by pigtail. No idea why this happened, and it hasn't happened again, but other people I've talked to have had this rarely happen. If you own a 6068T, I would locate that fuse so you know where it is in pinch.

I am at home right now and my engine manual and part numbers are on my boat. I can get it for you but I'd call MER in Seattle and tell them I need a relay. I can describe it. It is about 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" black plastic cube with about 4-5 spade connectors on one side. I'm pretty sure they'd know what you need.
