Alaska Marine Safety Education Association (AMSEA) will offer a free one day 10-hour commercial fishing vessel safety and Emergency Drill Conductor course in Hydaburg on Saturday May 5, 2012 at the Hydaburg School. This course meets the Coast Guard requirements for commercial fishing vessels. It is available FREE to commercial fishermen thanks to support from the Coast Guard, NIOSH, the state of Alaska and individual AMSEA memberships. Please call AMSEA at 907-747-3287 to register, or register online at www.amsea.org to avoid cancelation due to under enrollment.

Anybody know if they offer the AMSEA traing in Juneau and when? It seems it is offered everywhere but here.

I figured that, but does Hydaburg really have more commercial boats than Juneau?

AMSEA did training in Juneau in February, but please call Rick at 907-747-3287 or email trainingcoord@amsea.org to request more training in Juneau. Thank you

AKFISHER:

It's easy for us to provide training in Juneau since we have 2 and sometimes 3 AMSEA trainers living in Juneau who can lead these classes. We've provided 6 of drill conductor classes in Juneau since the start of 2011. We will certainly be providing more classes in Juneau in the future, most likely in the autumn.

If that's too long to wait, call me at 747-3287 or email me at trainingcoord@amsea.org. (I rarely log on to this forum.) We may be able to provide a course sooner. Check out our course calendar at www.amsea.org.

We can provide this class in any community where we can recruit at least 8 commercial fishermen.

So for anybody reading this, no matter where you live, if you can help recruit 8 fishermen and want a class, contact me. We can probably come to you.

Also, if you'd like to become an AMSEA instructor, let's talk.

Rick
