I'd like to have a survey done on a glass troller in hoonah, does anyone know of a surveyor there, or a surveyor planning a trip there in the next month or so?

Check out this add on craigslists for a marine surveyor.

I would give "Sepel & Son" in Juneau a try at 907-790-2628, or send them a fax at 907-790-3566. You may have to pay for a plane ticket from Juneau to Hoonah and back, but they seem to do a decent job. If a surveyor can conduct a couple of surveys on the same trip you could cut their travel expenses in half. Good luck.

I used Rick Martin when I bought my boat 5 years ago. I would NOT recommend him to anyone for a pre-purchase survey. His expertise is very suspect as is his honesty.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT use Rick Martin. I as well paid him to do a survey and I am completely unsatisfied with his work and find his knowledge and his methods VERY suspect. Pay the money to get the good surveyor. It is worth it for peace of mind. And then , when you are finished getting your survey for loan purposes, and then REALLY want to find out about the boat, ask a shipwright to check out the boat and ask locals about the history of the boat.

Thanks for all the advice! Looks like it's not as expensive as I thought it would be to fly someone over from Juneau.
