Does anyone have a clue about hydraulic drives? I'm repowering an old boat and was told this might be a good idea.

Adding a belt driven hydraulic motor or PTO to the main? Installing a hydraulic transmission? Using some sort hydraulic system to turn the drive shaft? I don't quite get the meaning of "hydraulic drive".

A shaft driven hydraulic pump that runs a hydraulic motor that turns the prop. This would allow you to mount the engine any where you want.
