Want some irony I have had some serious issues with furuno 1715 radar and swore i would never buy a furuno product well the salesman convinced me to try the 585 color sounder now what are the odds that I would open the box and wouldn't you know it no Power Cord. Now after all the trouble I have had with the lousy 1715 radar I thought I would buy a JRC 2344 6 kw open array radar well guess what i got MTR Error and technician doesn't know what that means,,sheesh what do I have to do to get a good radar and sounder.

I have lost my patience.

Tom, For hundreds of years real sailors used only a sextant and a lead line. I just bought a 715 radar and now I'm worried!

Well I got radar and a color sounder now and Jerry at San Juan electronics says that a 1715 is only for toy boats, he says they are very unreliable.

Tom,

You are going to love that sounder. I love mine, try the black screen. Plug it into your computer of course.

I was wondering about the 1715 Furuno, I sent the bum radar that was on the boat in with Brick and haven't heard from him for a couple of weeks, so I guess I had better start looking for a new one.

Also found that the port gurdie has a bent shaft. Who works on the Simplex?

I have had Jim at Union machine in Ketchikan work on mine he does a good job.

So I fired up the Jrc radar today and from the Bellingham harbor I can see an outline of the Olympic Mtns at 48 mile, I am definately going to like the resolution. I wonder if I run the coast at 12 mile whether I will be able to see boats from the beach to 20 mile off shore, this maybe one hell of a tool.

Hey Eric I watched something crawl across the bottom of the harbor yesterday I think it was a crab. So what program do I need to hook this into computer to write my own charts?

Oh and the decks aren't leaking, and the new guard shines, the aluminum stanchions are adding strength to the bulwarks the work is definately showing, now time to go make a paycheck.

Keep your hand on it

Tom,

Send me a PM or give me a call about hooking up to a bottom mapping program. We are struggling with the latest versions a bit. Also finding some interesting problems as we try to stretch the program. Still, it is really cool technology. Wish I could afford the latest stuff out there.
