It's been a couple of years since I put my hand troll permit into use but that will hopefully change in a couple weeks. I plan to get a skiff or runabout and fish around sitka in may and june, and then august. (doing bristol bay in between that)
Anyway, I remember hearing a lot about guys in Sitka taking skiffs into silver bay in the spring for the Medviji (??spelling) run and doing alright, although a lot of the fish are pretty dark.
Anyone have advice or share any details about Medviji?

The latest pretty good I heard back by Medivie was HT's snagging kings back there a couple of springs ago.It it apears it was a short term "RED NECK ' troller affair which NSRAA had problems with.....Maybe you could be the one who figures it out. Good luck

The snag fishery in Bear Cove has been prohibited. Unfortunately the snaggers killed a fishery for a few guys who had figured out how to get the kings to bite. Trolling is all about producing high quality salmon who choose to bite our lures. It is not about snagging.

Is the fishery open for hand trollers using sport fishing methods? Where would you find these rules so I don't have to ask all the time? Maybe they are hidden in the regulations book which is worse than the DMV manual. :?
