Does anyone know the latest on traveling through BC with a boat?Do you have stop and check in with customs or can you drive straight through.Could you travel the outside coast and not stop into Canadian custom's?It used to be if you didn't stop or anchor you could transit through but things could have changed.Thanks.

I just called US Customs here in Ketchikan. Rules don't seem to have been changed recently. US registered boat, don't make landfall, don't anchor, don't refuel and be prudent: keep off the radio and below the radar. Bruce from Sountula

John, if you plan to anchor at all in BC or if the weather stops you, it is best to have cleared customs beforehand. They have a few bottleneck spots where they watch for the Yanks... An easy place to clear going northbound is Bedwell Harbor on Pender Island, just across the border. They have in the past been quick and informal. Make sure of their hours before showing up. Safe travels.
