On the relay there should be 4 posts 2 large studs and 2 small 10/32 that will take a 3/8 nut. From your battery run on 0 size wire. Don't get cheep with the copper wire the more strands the better, you need this to carry the amps from your batteries. Solder don't crimp the appoprite ends on the copper wire, a small propane torch will work fine. From the battery run 1 cable to a large stud on the relay, the stud on the other side of the relay will go on the large stud on the starter solenoid.

The small studs on the relay will be marked POS or P for positive, GRN or G for ground. Ground the G side to the block of the engine or the ground of the battery, the positive end will go to the start post on your ignition switch.

This is important. On most ignition switches there are 3 posts, accessories to the far counter clock wise, off, next is run and start full clock wise. The idea being when the engine starts you let go of the key and the switch will spring back to the run position just like your car, this will cut the power to your starter so it will stop turning. Now on your starter were you hooked the power cable to the large stud will be 2 small posts just like the relay ( some times 1 post the starter will have internal ground ) G and P. Hook them up the same as the relay, G ground P start side of the ignition. Idea being when you let go of the switch you cut powre in 2 places.

Some GM starters are shimmed and if the gear go's into the fly wheel to far it will stick. The starter may still turn but with no power so it won't burn up. And if it is stuck trust me you will know. The other thing you are going to need to do is hook up the solenoid for the injection pump. Same thing, GRN to ground but this time the POS wire is going to run side of the ignition switch.

So this is what is going to happen. Turn key, starter kicks in, engine starts, let go of key power is cut to starter, it quits turning, solenoid for injector pump still has powre going to it so engine will still run.

Make sure your oil pressure comes up, when it does pore the cole to it and make some smoke. Hope this helps. Rusty

That is just about the best set of instructions I've heard! Now I know where to go when I have a problem. Thanks
