Carol W

Well the ol Carol W is once again in the yard in Port Townsend, and the destruction has begun, the front 3rd of the sponson and shear plank is ripped off the starboard side leaving a nice hole in the boat. I have sanded all the paint above the water line off the hull on the starboard side, and my 51 year old body has burns and scrapes and feels like a big pile of pain, but the ol girl is getting her maintenace.
The political saber rattling has been getting louder and the days are longer, the money left in the SPC loan account is rapidly passing right through the bank account to the ol girl.
Soon it will be time to head for the grounds and catch kings to resupply the bank account, so after 37 years of trollling and the dooms dayers saying I am in a dying industry I am still living the cycle, I like to say I am my own boss but in reality my boss is the ol girl who takes me to sea each year and brings me back.
So at the end of the day when you have scraped and banged on your old troller raise a beer and toast to the profession that keeps us in the cycle as the gurdie turns.
Keep your hand on it

Tom,
A lot of work to keep your mistress in top notch shape but worth the effort. Just dwell for a minute on how many hunter gatherers there are left. We will change to meet the times and conditions but I think we will be around for a generation or two more.

The love of those wood trollers its a labor of love. Some day i want one of those wooden trollers with the classic lines. There is nothing like the way they ride in the water. I get my butt kicked now an i see you making another pass as i'm holding on for my live on a 28 plastic. So my hat off to you keeping that wonderful boat still in operational. craig
