Alaska Marine Safety Education Association (AMSEA) is offering courses at several locations in Alaska during Feb, March & April.

Cordova Feb. 26

Sitka March 8

Fairbanks March 18 & 19

Juneau April 9 (tentative)

Seward April 12

This course meets the training requirements for commercial fishing vessels. It is available FREE to commercial fishermen thanks to funding from National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the USCG.

Participants practice hands-on in the water and on a vessel, with emergency equipment that should be onboard any commercial fishing or other sizeable vessel — PFDs, life rafts, immersion suits, EPIRBs, fire extinguishers, and practice emergency procedures like man overboard, abandon ship, fire fighting and flooding control.

Hey, you bet!

And for skippers and crew who are in other AK cities - or those outside AK - I'm trying to add to the ATA webpage calendar all the class dates for the towns where we have members - aktrollers.org. Since they constantl add to this list, I'm sure to miss a few, so if you don't see your port, it's good to double check with AMSEA at amsea.org.

Right now the class is free, so it's a good time to sign up.

Thanks for getting the word out Dale. You are right, we are constantly adding classes. You can also go directly to our courses calendar at http://www.amsea.org/calendar.html. It's good to check the calendar for date or venue changes as well.

We are also offering several courses in California during the months of March & April - Crescent City, Half Moon Bay, Santa Barbara, San Pedro, Eureka, Morro Bay, Ventura and San Diego. Our calendar on our website has more information on these courses, as well as many more courses in Alaska.
