Hi all,

I would like to request advice and recommendations from the wise technologically adept users of this forum. My family lives in remote Sweden/Norway and I will be fishing this season in SE AK. What is the most practical ways of trying to stayin touch with them in consideration to sych devices as sat phones and internet connections? I know there have been quite a few threads about internet and such on this site, but I know the tech world develops rapidly and things change over night.

I was thinking to have at least a sat phone and trying to have some kind of internet capability that would works some of the time, but I imagine SKYPE is out of the question. And, finaly, what is the best sat phone you folks are using these days and where is a good deal?

Thank you all very much.

If you are in an area where you can get an internet connection, then I don't see why you could not use Skype. I have used it all over the world. What makes you think it is out of the question?

I recommend an Iridium Sat Phone. Globalstar, which I had for several years, is not as reliable in SE.
