This might be possible, maybe not. I've spent the last year looking for the right boat, I live in No. Cal. Shelter Cove to be exact, there is a boat listed on the GSI site, it's a 47' Sunnfjord seiner, troller. I am wondering if anyone knows of the boat. I'm not trying to circumvent the broker I am just wondering about the overall condition and or the reputation of the boat. It's a fair trip from where I am to Sitka, I guess I want to know if I should come up and take a look, It ought to be a fairly nice boat at 225000. asking

Thank You Jon

Jon,

I am familiar with this boat. It is now called the Oasis. It is in great shape as it was recently painted and new cap and rub rails attached. A new aluminum cockpit, and rigging was also put on it. The interior is in pretty good shape as well. It would make a great troller, longliner, crabber. It would be worth your while to make a trip to Sitka to take a look at her. Sunnfjord has a good reputation.

Hope this helps,Ed

I was in sitka last week and saw the boat at the dock. It's tied in crescent harbor. It looked like it would be a very good boat for trolling. The hull was beautiful, not that I know anything about fiberglass but it looked very well kept up as did the outside of the pilothouse. Overall the boat was very nice and in very good condition. I would say that if you are serious about buying a boat like that, the pics on the gsi site represent it well and it may be worth the trip up to see it. But I did not inspect it closely or look at the decks or anything (my only vantage was from the dock on passing) so maybe someone else could chime in here who has looked it over.

Good luck,

Joe

I am somewhat familiar with this boat, I have never been on it when running, but I know a bit about it. It has a 6-71, new shafting by a very reputable guy here in town. I don't think that it is ready to go fishing right now, needs some rigging in the pit, and on the poles. If I remember right, it's tanked. Some of the rigging might have been accomplished since the last time I took a peek at it. I know that it has been sitting for quite a while, so expect some minor gremlins with the electronics. It's been for sale for a while, about a year I think. Call Ben Crew at Crew Enterprises for more info. (907) 747-2955. He was watching the boat for the owner, and performed most of the aluminum fabrication, and did all the shafting work.

Hope you end up with the boat. It's a great platform, will be able to fish during any summer weather, anywhere. Good luck

Thanks for responding, I figured somebody would know something about the boat. The owner lives in Louisiana in the winter, and I am fishing crabs now so I did something I thought I would never do and made an offer on a boat I've never seen, probably not the smartest thing I've ever done. I won't be sleeping real sound after doing that. The boat is what I need and I expect to have to do some work no matter what boat I end up with, so we will see. We're going to have to fish these crabs harder than ever to pay for that thing. Thanks very much, and have a great holiday. Jon
