Anyone have a favorite sealant they use that can be applied (and will actually stick and seal) wet or damp surfaces? I'd like to use it to seal some leaky through-bolts on an aluminum freeman hatch on a fiberglass deck. Eventually I'd like to remove and re-set or maybe even replace the hatch entirely, but that will require some lengthy drying-out time and glasswork since it looks like the hatch was originally installed with 5200 and the deck's wood is exposed. Temporarily, I'd like to try using a sealant on the bolts and around the inside and outside edge of the hatch base. I've been considering a building product called lexel as well as a product called H2 Hold by Devcon. It will need to be flexible and I think it needs to be compatible with the dried 5200 (or maybe its sika flex?) that I think is already there. Any ideas?
It will be hard to find anything that seals wet and doesn't adhere permanently. I'd try Sika-flex first, put this stuff is an adhesive as well as a sealant. Silicon or 5200 is not going to seal if the surface is wet and or dirty; its a waste of time and money.

Yeah, 5200 definitely needs dry and clean surface. That's also been my experience with sikaflex and I do prefer it for most applications but just not on damp surfaces. Got some more info on lexel, which is supposed to stick to damp surfaces and stay flexible so I will probably give that a try for the time being. I think I'll eventually need to re-bed the hatch frame. Thanks for the reply!
GE makes a sealant called Ultraglaze SSG4000. It will setup wet. I've used it on several wet areas with good results.

Pro seal, it can go on wet and there's nothing it won't stick to. it's primarily used on roofs in construction and around doors/Windows when you know they're going to be blasted with water, like on the "weather" side of houses. Available at most home improvement and hardware stores. Comes in a tube like silicone in multiple colors. Be prepared for sticker shock.

Simple question hopefully.
I am putting in a new head gasket and have had mixed recommendations about putting in gasket sealant or not. Things like Hylomar or Hermatite.
So, should you use any sealant, or not?
Thanks,
Sam.

Splashzone could be used, probably. Hardens underwater
