This book combined with the meter that I recommended should get the boat part of the fishing equation pointed in the correct direction.

Based on my experience I believe that if a boat has a serious electrical problem it can effect other boats. This can happen at the dock where a boat "steals" other boats zinc over the winter. Or on the fishing grounds... sometimes it seems like certain boats will kill the bite. So... get it tuned up!

KJ: Thanks for the recommendations. I see this book covers refrigeration maintenance. Does it talk about large systems for cooling or freezing a fish hold, or just lightweight consumer stuff? (I suppose for the 30 bucks I should just buy it and find out for myself, but I'm getting more crotchety all the time.)

The 51 page chapter in this book focuses on air conditioning and galley refrigeration. I guess some of the info could apply to the industrial systems on our vessels.

If I notice you in my neighborhood, I always try to troll AWAY from you, Eric. So far it seems to work pretty well. You also hold the current record for calling me and "talking fish on" during the conversation. I haven't been able to figure out how you manage that but I suppose I should buy the electrical/voltage text book Karl recommends and see if there is a possible explanation.
