Hello. I am a hand trolling looking to move into Power Trolling. Last season was our 1st and we had a blast. We fished a 25' Albin that was nicely converted to Hand trolling but fond ourselves limited by lack of hold space.
I am looking at Craigslist daily as well as most of the brokerage sites. I am particularly interested in a fiberglass boat and not completely sure of the scale of operation (cost) that I am looking for. (we will be buying with cash and are very serious about making this happen)
I seem to center on boats in the class of the Monterey Clipper as I can appreciate their functionality and efficiency. I have traveled to Sitka and Port Ludlow so far looking at different boats. From these experiences I have learned the importance of finding a clean boat with good power source.
We are currently in-route to Northern Ca to look there and anticipate driving up the coast to look at others boats a long the way.
If you hear of any power trollers that are coming on the market I would be very appreciative if you could let me know.
Thanks very much!
Dave

Update: We have completed our "west coast tour" and stopped in every harbor from Santa Cruz to Winchester bay...lots of happy trollers with stories of awesome fishing the last 2 years..had a close call with a 28' Monterey Clipper (fiberglass)which seemed too small but the price was great and I was willing to buy it as an interem boat...unfortunately the boat the seller wanted to upgrade to sold while we were working it out...Thanks for the conversations so far related to this (had several folks text with ideas)...still looking.

The 28' Monterey Clipper ended up coming around again (owner found his next boat) and a deal was struck...I have a boat hauler willing to drive it to Bellingham for about $2,700 after yard fees so will probably send her north this way rather than battle the N Cal, Oregon, Washington coast.....pondering driving her up the coast and willing to listen to advice on this but for the $ the time savings and the "Not-geting-my-ass-kickededness" it seems like I-5 is the way to go. Thanks everyone. ~ Dave
