Sorry for all the posts. Busy news day...

We've been informed that with the federal budget cuts USGC inspectors are likely to only visit the outlying communities one time this spring. This is the only date given so far. I'll update this section when they announce more.

Inspections are voluntary for a couple more years, but if you want to avoid at sea boardings and make sure that you're gear is up to snuff, here's an opportunity.

COAST GUARD TO CONDUCT COMMERCIAL FISHING VESSEL DOCKSIDE SAFETY EXAMS 23-25 APRIL 2013

The Juneau Coast Guard Commercial Fishing Vessel Examiner will be conducting voluntary dockside examinations for Commercial Fishing Vessels in Hoonah from 9:00am Tuesday 23 April to 4:00pm Thursday 25 April 2013.

Voluntary dockside examinations are free, take about an hour.

Anyone interested in receiving a Voluntary Dockside Examination may contact Scott Wilwert at (907)957-0152 or sign-up on the list at the Harbormaster’s office.
