Permit Prices

Anyone have a guess as to what the prices for hand troll permits will do in the next 6 months? 1 Year? Or is now the best time to buy? Im in no hurry if the market will drop after this season but getting on the water would be nice also.

Since this is my first post here I would like to say HI to all the Sitka trollers here. Hope to see you on the drag soon.

Welcome to the site. Predicting permit prices is like predicting the weather. The outlook changes nearly every week. I suspect a slight drop due to the overall economy but pretty stable over the long term.

Here in the San Francisco Bay the prices I have seen in www.craigslist.org for a salmon permit are:

- $3000 for up to 45 ft = $67/ft

- $700 for up to 23 ft = $30/ft

- 31 ft boat for $1000, including salmon permit = $32/ft (assuming free boat, which I bought)

- $1500 for a 32 ft boat = $47/ft
