Where do you all get your boats insured?
Every company I have tried (Progressive, BoatUs, etc) plainly states that no insurance will be provided for commercial boats, even if it is liability only. I have a 1940's 32 ft wooden salmon troller (not that it matters.. its is rejected just because its a commercial vessel).
I have the same problem with the towing insurance (like Vessel Assist through BoatUS), as they refuse to cover a commercial vessel.
Do fishermen have their own associations? insurance carriers?
Or do we all just go around with no liability coverage and pay $1500 dollars every time a tow is needed?
thanks,

Talk to Griffin Mclean in Seattle.Sorry ,don't have the Phone # handy.
There is an insurance pool called the Pacific Trollers Fund - you only pay if there's a loss, which everyone shares. You need 5 people currently in the pool to vouch for you in order to get in. I'm not sure who to contact regarding this other than the SPC at (360)733-0120 or (907) 747-5811.
Wells Fargo has a division which provides insurance for commercial fishing boats:

You may find some problems getting insurance for your wood boat, I know I did even with a boat that is in excellent shape. But I did get a policy with Erven Bong & Associates and the premium is alot lower than Griffin Mclane. 1800-399-4872
Good luck
