I have been looking at different boats, and am wondering other the the cost why use ICE instead of referagation ?? I am not looking at salmon but tuna, yet it also seems some of the tuna boats also use ICE.

Since both types of holds have to be cleaned, between trips, I can't see a huge difference in that part. Then again, I see both types of boats listed with the brokers. Is it that salmon trips are a shorter duration then tuna trips ?? or the processors do not want fish that is frozen but just chilled to 32 degrees that ICE will provide,Vis spray brine or blast freezing that can go below 0 degrees ???

Here again I am assuming that both types of holds are insulated, to help keep the lower temps. in either ICE or freezer systems, and again both require some kind of maintance, chipping ICE and shoveling or a freezer system that you have to also maintain that is mechanical.
