I trolled all summer and am thinking about getting into winter kings in january. is this a pretty good time around the craig area? ive been talking to some people but still just trying to get some info. im up in anchorage now til end of december or so, so i cant get out and look around yet. what do you guys think about farther north? thanks for any input guys

January is a tough month for winter trolling. You can check the ADFG Troll website http://www.cf.adfg.state.ak.us/region1/finfish/salmon/troll/trolwntr_hist_comp.php for the historical records. I trolled quite a bit last January. Some skunks and ones. It usually gets better in March. But, every winter, every month, every week is unique. You never know. :)

Heading out in a few minutes. Goal: 1 king in December.

Skunked on last trip. Almost lost whole line with float bag. December kinging can be marginal.
